Home services & trades

The call you can't answer
is the job you don't get.

Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, locksmiths, cleaning, pest control. Your phone rings while you are under a sink, up a ladder, or asleep — and the caller rings the next name on the list within about a minute.

Why this trade loses more calls than most

Three things are true of nearly every trades business, and together they are expensive.

01

The work makes answering impossible

Hands wet, gloves on, in a loft, on a roof, under a floor. Not distracted — physically unable. A voicemail greeting is not a solution, because almost nobody leaves one for a trade.

02

Your customers do not wait

An emergency caller has a list. Whoever answers wins the job, and being second by ninety seconds is the same as not existing. This is the least loyal call in any industry.

03

The best jobs come at the worst time

Burst pipes and lockouts happen at night and at weekends, and they carry the emergency rate. The highest-value calls arrive precisely when nobody is there.

What the AI handles

Not "customer enquiries" in the abstract — these specific calls, which are most of what you get.

  • "Do you cover my postcode?" Answered from your service area, immediately.
  • "How much to fix a…?" Your call-out fee and hourly rate, quoted exactly as you wrote them — not invented.
  • "When could someone come?" Offers a slot and books it.
  • "Are you open on Sunday?" From your hours, including bank holidays.
  • "Can someone come out now?" Recognises an emergency, takes the address and the fault, and rings your mobile straight away.
  • "I need a quote for a bathroom." Takes the details and the photos-by-text follow up, then hands you a job you can price properly.

What must always reach you

Just as important as what it handles. You decide this, and it is a branch in the flow rather than a setting you hope works.

Genuine emergencies

Gas, water, no heat in winter, locked out, no power. Routed to your mobile immediately with the address already taken, so you are deciding whether to go — not gathering facts.

Anything about a job in progress

A customer chasing work you are already doing wants you, not an assistant. Recognised and passed straight through.

Complaints

A caller who is angry gets a person on the first signal. Nothing damages a trade reputation faster than a bot handling a complaint.

What it costs, against what it recovers

Use your own numbers — the point is the ratio, not our example.

Illustrative arithmetic, not a claim about results. Replace every figure with your own — your carrier portal has the missed-call count.

Most one-van and two-van firms land on Pro.

Start free for 30 days: a real phone number, a working AI receptionist and $15 of credit — around 25 answered calls, which is enough to hear how it handles yours before you commit to anything.

Pro is $69 a month for up to ten people, so taking on an apprentice or a subcontractor costs nothing extra. AI answering runs about 28¢ a minute, and a typical booking call is two or three minutes.

What trades ask us

Will customers know it's not a person?
Yes — it says it is an AI assistant, and that disclosure is built into the platform layer rather than your script, so it cannot be edited away. Worth weighing against the alternative the caller currently gets, which is ringing out.
Can it quote prices? I don't want it guessing.
It quotes only what you have written down — your call-out fee, hourly rate and any fixed prices. Anything outside that it takes details for and hands to you. It answers from your content; it does not estimate.
Do I need to keep my number?
Yes, and you can. Connect your existing carrier and keep the number on all your vans and signage, or take a new number from us and forward to it while you try it.
What if I'm free and want to take the call myself?
Set yourself available and calls ring you first, with the AI as the fallback when you do not pick up. Plenty of people run it that way — the AI is the safety net rather than the front door.
How long to set up?
An afternoon, and we will build the first flow with you. You describe the business once — services, area, hours, prices — and test it by ringing your own number.
Try it this week

Run it for a week and count the difference.

The reporting will show you how many calls arrived while you were working — which for most people is the first time they have seen that number.
